the performance difference will depends on what you do with the computer. unless your homework involves 3D modelling, video editing, heavy number crunching, or professional photo editing, content creation, or anything else extremely demanding, even the processor you got packs a lot more computing power than you need.
2.6 gigaherts is more then enough computing power then you will ever need.
